Obituary

Claudia Burns (Nelson) Bowers of Havre de Grace died Tuesday, September 29 in her home. She passed

with her only son and close relative, Jonathan Roberts Bowers at her side. They fought her chronic

illness together for close to five years. She would have been 68 on October third; but happily

celebrated her birthday prior to passing. Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late

Chester Harold Nelson and Betty (Burns) Nelson. She was the wife of the late Harold Roberts Bowers

Jr. Mrs. Bowers was a published poet. She engaged in legal studies in college. She relished flowers

and gardening, was a master of knit and crochet, and had a voracious appetite for literature. Her

values unerringly consisted of loyalty, forgiveness, charity, compassion, and devout faith in her

Lord, Jesus Christ. Always happier ta give than receive, concerned about the well-being of others

above herself, never judgmental on any level, she lived her life. She is survived by her son,

Jonathan Roberts Bowers; two sisters, Susan (Nelson) Hoch and Mary (Nelson) Wager; a sister-in-law,

Jo (Bowers) Panamarow; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Arrangements are

private.

Please accept my sincere condolences. God assures us at Daniel 12:2: "Many of those asleep in the dust of the earth will wake up." May this comfort from God's word sustain you during this most grievous time.

To Jonathan, I have not seen you in very long time. Ran in to your Mom sometime after your father passed . . . . she was just beside herself. I'm Dick Baker's little sister. I am so sorry to read about your Mom. I always thought your parents were such nice people and good neighbors. God Bless you during this sad and difficult time.

Jonathan, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Your mother my Aunt Claudia was a beautiful and graceful woman that I have looked up to an respected all of my life. I loved her dearly. She always made time for each of her 7 nieces and nephews as individuals, she never left one of us out. Each one of us has very special memories of her that we will hold close to our hearts.

To her son and family, I am shocked when I saw this. Claudia and I were good friends in high school, and at the 1990 reunion, I last saw her February 2009. I knew her health was a problem. I am beyond words, my deep condolences to you and all my prayers. I will miss her, even though I did not see her I knew she was here. Gone too soon. I am so sorry.
