Obituary
Samuel David Hyman, known affectionately to all as Sam, passed away surrounded by love at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on August 1, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on April 26, 1952, in Ohio, Sam was a beacon of kindness and gentleness throughout his life, touching the hearts of those around him with his loving nature.
Sam was the cherished son of Claude and Mary Helen Hyman, and he grew up in a home filled with warmth and affection, which shaped him into the compassionate man he became. He shared 11 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Leslie Della Cruz Hyman, and was a devoted father to his daughter Mary, who was the apple of his eye. Sam also held a special place in his heart for his niece Tonna Parker and his brother Leiland Hyman. He was predeceased by his dear sister Alexis Brand, whose memory he held close to his heart.
Professionally, Sam dedicated many years to his work in HVAC at Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he was known for his reliability and expertise. His colleagues respected him not only for his skills but also for his ability to remain calm and understanding, no matter the situation at hand.
Sam's passions extended beyond his work. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing guitar and loved music. His later years saw him meticulously assembling model cars, a hobby that allowed him to express his patience and attention to detail. These interests were more than pastimes; they were reflections of Sam's patient and creative spirit.
Those who knew Sam were lucky to experience his kindheartedness firsthand. He was a man of few words, but each one was chosen with care and intention. His gentle demeanor was a constant source of comfort to his family and friends, and his legacy of love will continue to be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Sam's life was a testament to the virtues of kindness, gentleness, and love. He navigated the world with a quiet strength that drew people to him, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
As we bid farewell to Samuel David Hyman, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that were as meaningful as they were numerous. Sam's memory will forever reside in the hearts of those he touched, and his spirit will continue to inspire us to live with the same graciousness and compassion that he embodied every day.
