August 16, 1913 - April 22, 2016

Obituary

Grace died on April 22, 2016. Mrs. Knight was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on August 16, 1913, the third and youngest child of Estelle Maude Bryer Watson and Lyman Marlborough Watson. Preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harold A. Knight, she lived her entire married life in Harford County, mostly on the family farm in Carsins Run. In the nineteen forties, she and her husband owned and operated a Clover Farm grocery store in Carsins Run. In 1952, she was employed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, briefly working in the printing plant before she joined the staff of the U.S. Army Ordinance School. She retired in 1975 with 23 years of service. An active camper and members of a local trailer club for many years, she and her husband camped at attractions and traveled throughout. She enjoyed playing card games, reading and solving crossword puzzles; she also 'loved to talk'. Designated a Harford Living Treasure in 2007, Mrs. Knight shared her lifelong memories in the Harford County Public Library's Oral History project. Mrs. Knight is survived by two beloved sons and daughters-in-law: Gordon A. and Connie L. Knight of Cumming, GA and Ronald H. and Janet B. Knight of Carsins Run, MD. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Grant Knight, Julie Knight-Brown, Debbie Knight Absher and Kelly Knight Fulp, and four great-grandchildren. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Smith's Chapel United Methodist Church, 3109 Churchville Road, Churchville, MD 21018. Condolences to the Knight family. I worked with Grace at USAOC&S in the early 70's I remember her laugh, funny jokes and mentoring me. She was a beautiful & lovely lady and always being kind to all who worked with her.
