Obituary
Margaret Amanda Coale passed away peacefully at Citizens Care Center in Havre de Grace MD on April 23 at the age of 93.
She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Sarah Coale, sisters Anna Coale, Frances Trago, brother, Mitchell Coale, and Nephew Philip Coale.
Born and raised in Churchville, she was one of four children whose father, Walter G. Coale founded a farm equipment company in 1899. She attended and graduated from Bel Air High School.
As a young girl she worked in the family general store as a storekeeper. They handled a variety of items of that time and remember customers bringing eggs and chickens to trade on store items. She grew up through the Great Depression and witnessed failure of many businesses. As of the years past, tractors and farm equipment were the main stay of the company.
On May 11, 1948 her father turned the business over to his three children and it became Walter G. Coale Inc. It's so ironic that on that same day and month in 1982 they sold their business to a long time employee of 20 years, Ray Bent.
She witnessed many changes in the Churchville area from all the dirt roads, no stop signs or lights to almost an expressway today. She witnessed the first phone call operator's assistance from their home by her mother.
She was a lifelong member of Churchville Presbyterian Church. She also was honored to receive a proclamation from Harford County as being a true Living Treasure, of which she was so humbled. She was a true historian of Churchville with such a vast knowledge of who, what and where, so much will be leaving with her.
Her later years were spent enjoying the activities and visits she received while at Citizens Care Center. She will be missed by many.
Visitation will be at Tarring Cargo Funeral Home in Aberdeen MD on Wednesday April 27 at 6pm-8pm.
Service and Interment will be on April 28 11am at the Churchville Presbyterian Church , officiated by Pastor Stephen Melton.
