Versie Lee Stanley
November 22, 1927 - May 27, 2016
Obituary
Versie Lee Stanley (nee Mullins), aged 88, passed away on May 27, 2016, at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson, MD, after a brief struggle with cancer. Lee was born November 22, 1927, in Clintwood, Virginia, the daughter of Tom and Eura Mullins.
Lee was a long-time volunteer at Steppingstone Museum where she enjoyed demonstrating cooking skills she learned as a child living on a farm. More recently, she enjoyed a knitting and crocheting group and spending time with friends made during her 16 year residency at St. John's Towers in Havre de Grace.
But most of all, she was a truly devoted mother.
Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Stanley, and brothers Freeling, John, and Kermit, all of Clintwood, Virginia, and Willie, of Sparrows Point. Lee is survived by her three children, John and his wife Pat of Havre de Grace, Douglas and Vickie, both of Essex. She is also survived by two brothers, Brownlow Mullins of Sparrows Point, and Frank Mullins of Kingsport, TN. She also leaves four grandchildren; Gregory, Erin, Michele, and Kaitlyn.
A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends.

I'm Versies grandson and just came here to reminisce, only to find this area blank, so I wanted to add my perspective.
My grandmother lived with us, on and off for many years. She was my babysitter when I was very young, and later, while my sister was still very young, she would cook the dinners and do a lot of housework to take the load off of my working parents.
It was a delight for me having her around, both as a child and a teenager. She made the best food imaginable. The chicken and dumplings were my favorite, but she also made the best fried chicken I've ever had, but there was a couple failed experiments that stick with me to this day.
As an adult, I really feel like I got to know her for who she truly was, and I miss that person. I felt like she was the only soul in the world that truly understood me, but that could have just been her nature.
I miss you, mom mom
