Obituary

Marvel "Lydie" Lucille Markline, 91, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away on Friday, June 3rd, 2016 at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill after a brief illness. She was born on July 29, 1924 in Lobelia, West Virginia to Nelson and Nina (Hollandsworth) Bruffey. Lydie was one of eight children, and she attended a one room schoolhouse, Mt. Lebanon School, in Lobelia before moving to Havre de Grace with her family in 1943. Once there, her father played matchmaker and introduced her to J. Edward Markline; they were married on June 30th, 1948. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on June 30th of this year. Lydie was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed caring for everyone around her; and she enjoyed an especially strong relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a wonderful example of how to live a Christian life. Left to honor Lydie and remember her love are her husband, J. Edward; her sons, Joseph and his companion, Susan Cooley, of Darlington; and Jeffrey and his wife Deborah, of Havre de Grace; a granddaughter, Amy Crowl and her husband, Parker, of Street; and her beloved great grandson, P.D. Forrest Crowl of Street; as well as sisters Mary Walters and Martha "Peg" Carcirieri, both of Havre de Grace, Betty Konopnicki of Fairfax, Virginia, and Ruth Swindell of Red Lion, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by two sons, James and John; her parents; and siblings Nelson Bruffey, Jr., Gene Bruffey and Eudora Blevins. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 6 at 10:00 am at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home in Aberdeen, followed by a graveside prayer at Smith Chapel in Churchville and a luncheon. The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 5 at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, and again on Monday from 9:00 until the time of the service as well. On line condolences may be left for the family at www.tarringcargo.com. Funeral Home: Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home 333 South Parke Street Aberdeen, MD US 21001
