Jane Kitzmiller

Jane Elizabeth Detrich Kitzmiller, 89, of Aberdeen, Maryland, died Monday, July 25, 2016, at Senator Bob Hooper House, in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born Nov. 23, 1926, in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Stewart B. and Mae Leckron Detrich. Jane was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, class of 1944. She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps and a graduate of the Washington County Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1947. She was a nurse at Washington County Hospital, before moving to Aberdeen, Maryland in 1951. While in Aberdeen, she did volunteer work for the Harford County Health Department for 33 years. She was a volunteer for the Aberdeen branch of the Harford County library system for over 10 years. She was a Sunday school teacher at St. John's Episcopal Church in Havre de Grace, and later, an active member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Perryman, Maryland She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James M. Kitzmiller, and son David. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Mary, in 1954, and twin sister, Janet Kathryn Dayhoff. Funeral arrangements are private.
