Obituary

Crawford Earl Christy of Aberdeen, MD passed away peacefully at home March 3, 2017. He was 86. Crawford loved the true God Jehovah, was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and a trusted friend to many. Crawford was born in Havre De Grace, MD to the late William Henry Christy Jr. and Mary Marcella Rebecca Christy. Crawford is predeceased in death by his parents William and Mary Christy his sister Cleo, his brothers Clarence, Littleton "Litt", Leroy, Collins "Step", Kenneth, "Neal" and Harford "Hardy" Christy. Crawford graduated from Havre De Grace Colored High School June 11, 1948. He married Pearl Lucinda Fax on February 7, 1954. They were married 63 years. Crawford gave 37 years of service to the U.S. Federal Government. He served 4 years in U.S. Navy and was employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Perry Point VA Medical Center for 33 years. Crawford symbolized his dedication to Jehovah God when he was baptized on June 30, 1984 and was an active member of the Aberdeen Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He regularly read the Bible and Bible based publications and followed closely the guidance found within. He believed doing so was the reason for his success as a husband and father. He willingly participated in preaching the good news of Gods Kingdom and enjoyed conducting Bible studies with all who agreed to listen. Crawford was known and admired by many for his beautiful singing voice. His outstanding vocal talent delighted all who heard him sing. His favorite genre of music was the Doo Wop sound of the 50's. He passed his love of music on to his children and grandchildren. Some of their favorite family memories include the times they would get together and sing the old Doo Wop classics that Crawford had taught them from childhood. Crawford also enjoyed reading poetry. One of his favorite poems is entitled "Even This Too Shall Pass Away". He would quote those words as a reminder to us that no matter what we were going through, as time passed by we would heal, everything would be okay and soon the difficulty at hand would fade from memory. In recent years Crawford took great pleasure in bird watching and could identify each species by name. He enjoyed feeding and watching the variety of birds that gather on his deck each day. It was as if they depended on him. Crawford is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Pearl L. Christy, his son Michael Christy his daughters Nadine McCoy, Yvonne Dorsey, Janice Richardson, Jenell Brown, his 4 sons in laws, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his best friend from childhood Charles Stokes and all who were blessed to know him. He'll surely be missed. One of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. I always tried to sit near him and Pearl at the Kingdom Hall so I could sound good too. Love you all and you'll be in our prayers.

Dear Janice, My condolences to you and your family. I am so very sorry for your loss. No one can truly know how you feel to go through losing someone as dear to you as your Father, but our Heavenly Father understands those feelings all to well and he yearns to undo the things that causes us so much emotional pain. We can most assuredly put full trust in his promises for the future because he cannot lie..(Titus1:2) What a wonderful time that will be! You are loved and in my thoughts and prayers this day...
