Obituary

Robert Jamison Viele passed away at the age of 78 on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Senator Bob Hooper House.


He was born March 10,1947 in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Frederick J. and Jane (Bennington) Viele.


Robert managed the family-owned hardware and lumber business, Viele & Co., in Aberdeen, MD. A Vietnam Veteran of the US Army, Robert was a member of the Society of Colonial Wars and the American Legion Post 256. He enjoyed reading, electronics, music, buying and driving fast cars.


He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” (Cameron) Viele; daughter, Valerie Custer and granddaughter Katherine Custer of Navarre, FL; daughter, Monica Stoldt of Knoxville, TN; brother, Fred Viele of Cumming, GA; niece, Laurie Davidson and great nephew Charles Patrick Davidson of Atlanta, GA.


A visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 10am - 12pm at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home. A time of fellowship and sharing will begin at 12pm. Interment will follow at Grove Presbyterian Cemetery in Aberdeen, MD.
