Obituary
Richard Franklin DeWeese, 73, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at his home in Churchville, Md. Born and raised in Havre de Grace, he was the eldest son of the late Franklin Allen and Edith Marie DeWeese.
Mr. DeWeese is survived by his wife, Beverly, stepson, John Twele and wife, Deborah, granddaughter, Isabella, brother, C. Allen DeWeese and wife Katie, sister Patricia Mary Logan and husband, Wesley, and former wife Francine DeWeese of Havre de Grace. And he was cherished by many nieces and nephews.
Rick was a life-long resident of Harford County, graduating from Havre de Grace High School in 1961 making a career as Produce Manager with Acme Food Markets. After retirement from Acme at age 51, Rick was able to pursue his love of the outdoors in his hobbies from gardening to fishing and crabbing. Hunting - geese, deer, bear, wild boar and pheasant was his passion for many years.
He went on to work part-time until his final retirement in 2010. By which time, traveling had begun to interest Rick, including a month and a half trip across the country. Along the way, he always delighted in regaling fellow travelers with the story of body booting on the Susquehanna flats.
Anyone who knew Rick knew he never met a stranger. He could jump into any conversation, any situation and entertain the crowd. Throughout his life, Rick revered friendships. Rick loved life and he was loved by all.
Relatives and friends may gather at Tarring-Cargo funeral home on Sunday June 11th at 1 pm with a celebration of life continuing at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Richard F. DeWeese to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

You were one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and you will be missed. Always with a smile,a corney joke and to lend a helping hand. I am sure there is a special place in heaven with a big fishing spot for you.

Bev, So sorry to hear of Rick's illness and passing. I had hoped to attend his service, but we are having a service for Bill's brother the same day. Rick was really a special guy and I was happy to get to know him. I know he will be missed by all, especially you. Take care of yourself. I'll be in touch soon. Sandi

Will miss your happy face, wise and funny comments, your comforting of others when you had so much to deal with. Farewell, dear classmate. I'll just bet that Dickie, John, Phil, and Terry are waiting for you to get into some more mischief. God's love and peace to your family.
