Obituary

Betty Ann Bailes, a woman of creativity and courage, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on December 4, 1940, in Fork, Maryland, to George Walter Spicer and Josephine (Eller) Pasley, Betty was a spirited soul who brought joy and crafts to the lives of all who knew her. Her final days were spent surrounded by the love of her family in Port Deposit, Maryland.

Betty, affectionately known by all as a devoted wife, mother, loving sister, and doting grandmother. She was the wife of the late Ronald Bailes and is survived by her sons, Paul Bailes (Julie), David Bailes (Mary), James Bailes, and Timothy Bailes (Kym Earls Bailes); her cherished grandchildren, Brooke, Ian, and Spencer Bailes; her brothers, Douglas Spicer, Larry Spicer, Richard Pasley, Kenneth Pasley; and her sister, Robin Greene. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Spicer, Jimmy Dale Pasley, and sister, Iva Barber.

After high school, Betty dedicated much of her life to her family, embodying the role of a homemaker with grace and enthusiasm. Her working career included various positions at Walmart, from which she retired after years of dedicated service. However, her heart was always in the warmth of her home, where she cultivated a nurturing environment for her children and grandchildren.

Betty's passion for the arts and crafts was undeniable. Her hands were rarely still, as she loved engaging in various crafts, always eager to create something beautiful or meaningful. Not only did she have a penchant for capturing moments through her photography, but she was also an avid shopper, always on the lookout for the next treasure to add to her collection or to gift to a loved one.

A remarkable highlight of Betty's creative journey was the publication of her book about Elvis Presley, which showcased her admiration for the music legend and her talent for storytelling. Her love for writing extended to poetry, where she poured her heart and spirit into each line, leaving a legacy of words that will be cherished forever.

Betty was the embodiment of creativity, her spirit an endless source of inspiration. She approached life with a courageous heart, never shying away from challenges and always ready to embrace the new and the unknown. Her life was a testament to the power of positivity and the impact one person can have on the world around them.

As we bid farewell to Betty Ann Bailes, we celebrate her life and the immeasurable contributions she made to her family and community. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched, the beautiful works she created, and the love she shared so freely.
