I met Lyle over 20 years ago and he is the reason I am a square dancer today. He was always so patient and steady in his teaching and calling. He leaves a lot of square dancers very sad. He added a lot to the square dancing world. Alma, I am soooo sorry. Enjoyed the sessions at your home. My prayers are with you.

Alma, I am saddened by the news of Lyle's passing. I admired his patient and gentle nature. He was one of the true gentleman. I’m glad I had the chance to visit with him a few months ago. Rest assured he will be remembered fondly by many.

Lyle was instrumental in my getting started as a caller. His advice and willingness to share mic time was what any new caller needs to get started! Rest in peace friend!

I just heard about the service last night from my mom. Mr Kirkendall (as I knew him while a kid ) was very kind, practically gave me my first car a 1966 Ford truck I was probably more trouble then anything. It was in our "family" for almost 10 years, couldn't have made it through college without it. Loved hanging out with the family as I grew up; thank you all for putting up with me. Sympathies and prays on his passing. Warmest Regards Tom Buonaugurio

I was saddened to hear of the death of Lyle. I worked at The Ballistics Research Laboratory and was frequently in need of his machinist expertise in construction of parts for my projects. His knowledge, competence and patience in completing these tasks were greatly appreciated by me.
