Obituary
Nancy Lee Daugherty passed away peacefully at her home in Aberdeen, MD, on December 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Havre de Grace, MD, Nancy lived a full life of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community. Nancy was blessed with an incredibly close-knit family, including her son Ed Daugherty and his wife Barbara of Dagsboro, DE, her daughter Roxana McKay and husband William (Bill) of Middle River, and her daughter Annette Daugherty of Fairfax Station, VA. She was a loving sister to Bill Collins of Centreville, MD, and Ina Fine of Connecticut. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Warren "Doc" Daugherty and her brother, James Collins. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Throughout her years, Nancy embraced her role as a homemaker. She had a passion for sewing, creating beautiful pieces for her family and friends. Nancy's love for travel took her to many places, but she was always happiest spending time at the family beach house in West Beach, DE, fondly referred to as "the shack." In her younger days, she played the organ, was actively involved in Girl Scouts with her girls, and was a substitute teacher in the Harford County public schools. Nancy, alongside her husband Doc, was actively involved in giving back to the community. They both dedicated time to Meals on Wheels, delivering food and companionship to those in need. In her early days, Nancy volunteered with the Republican Women, contributing to the civic life of her community. Family time was Nancy's greatest joy. She enjoyed simple pleasures like savoring a cup of coffee while flipping through a magazine at the kitchen table. Her family, devoted to her happiness and comfort, ensured she could remain in her beloved home in her later years of life. Those who knew Nancy will remember her for her kindness, gentleness, and love. Her presence was a source of stability and affection, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Nancy's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family. She will be profoundly missed. Rest in peace, dear Nancy, knowing that your legacy of love lives on.
