Margaret Y. "Bonnie" Brown
March 06, 1938 - September 06, 2021
Obituary
Margaret Yvonne Brown (nee Howell) passed from this life on September 6th, 2021 after a lengthy battle with heart disease. She was 83 years old.
“Bonnie” to family, friends, and all who knew her, was born in Baltimore City, Maryland on the 6th of March 1938 to the late Gordon John Howell and Mary Magdalene (nee Kellum). She was also preceded in death by her three brothers: Lloyd Lawrence, Gordon James, Sr., and Dennis Marlowe Howell.
She is survived by a son, Steven Austin Hensley; a step-son, Raymond M. France; her beloved grandchildren, Brooke and Cole France; and her spoiled rotten Tuxedo Cat, King Tut. She is also survived by her Nieces and Nephews: Anita L. Boris, Gordon J. Howell, Jr., Mark E. Howell, and Julie A. Sandford.
Bonnie had only recently moved to Aberdeen; prior to her relocation to Harford County, she lived and worked in and around Baltimore City/County her whole life. She was employed in the bar/restaurant industry; most recently in the Parkville-Carney area. Prior to her retirement, she was the Head Chef at the Ridge Inn, whipping up delicious appetizers, sandwiches and entrees for her customers – her homemade coleslaw was locally famous, and is a treasured family recipe.
Her spare time was devoted to serving others, as well - she enjoyed cooking for family and friends, and her made-from-scratch soups and holiday cookies were deliciously anticipated as soon as the weather started to cool.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral arrangements are currently pending; a Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Joan of Arc Church in Aberdeen, followed by interment in the family’s plot at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Baltimore.
Friends are encouraged to donate to the American Heart Association in Bonnie’s memory.

Aunt Bonnie was my Dad's sister, and they were always the closest of their four siblings. She was such a big part of my family's life growing up; she lived with us several times during my childhood, and even when she moved out, she always lived within walking distance of our house. I know there were many, many times my brothers and sister and I ran to her house to escape the wrath of our parents when we got into trouble. Or just went there to b*tch about said parents (God love them). She was our "cool Aunt". We all have so many memories and stories, it would take days to relate them all. Aside from her AWESOME cooking, there are two things that I will always remember most about my Aunt Bonnie. The first was her capacity for hard work; she was definitely not afraid of it - she worked hard her whole life and demanded the same of others. Many times she would put my siblings and I to a task, and we had to do it over again because it wasn't done to her standards. I owe more than a bit of my strong work ethic to her example. The second was her generous heart. My Aunt Bonnie was generous to a fault - she would give you the shirt off her back, and ask nothing in return. If you admired something she had, she'd try to give it to you, or get you one just like it. I have so many things in my house that she's given me - she was amazed that I still had them all these years later. And she was touched when I told her that I'd kept them just because SHE'D given them to me, and were therefore special. We had many, many conversations (and arguments) about the past and present (politics included), about life and death, heaven and hell and everything in-between while she was rehabbing at my house. My sincerest hope and prayer is that she gained some measure of peace before she died. I love you Aunt Bonnie - rest easy, girlfriend, you deserve it.

Wow. I worked with with Bonnie in the kitchen at the Ridge Inn back in the early 90's. She was a great friend and awesome cook. I think about the good times we had working there often. Her soups were the best and she gave me her Navy bean recipe that I still make to this day that my family requests often. RIP my friend, you were like my 2nd Mom.
