Shirley Jourdan Leftridge

Shirley Jourdan Leftridge, 87, of Oak Crest Village in Parkville, MD, formerly of Darlington, passed away August 4, 2022. Born in Darlington, MD Shirley was the daughter of the late Jesse Woodrow and Nellie Sampson Jourdan. She retired after 40 plus years, as a legal secretary working at the law office of Edward C. Wilson. She was a life member of the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Shirley enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and sharing these things to make others happy. One of her life’s pleasures was playing cards and other games with her friends and family. Upon retirement, she and her husband moved permanently to what was their vacation home in Lancaster VA, where they enjoyed fishing, crabbing and the beautiful landscape and animals on the Corrotoman River. It was there, that she truly earned her title of “Superwoman”. Shirley, at age 80, was trained to administer home dialysis. For two years, three times a week she provided this task diligently for her husband’s needs. In 2017, Shirley and her husband moved into the Oak Crest community to be closer to family as they aged. Here, they enjoyed 5 years meeting and making new friends. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sheryl Elizabeth Schubert, husband D. Scott of Aberdeen, and Michelle Elaine Hash, husband Dennis of Aberdeen; 4 grandchildren, Mike Schubert, Kim Schubert, Travis Hash, his wife Emma, and Jesse Hash; and 3 great grandchildren, Kayde McKay, Zander Schubert, and Morgan Henning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Rex Edward Leftridge who died in February 2022, a son,Roy William Taylor, and a brother John Luther Jourdan. A Celebration of Life will be held at Oak Crest Chapel, 8820 Walther Boulevard, Parkville, MD 21234 on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions in her name may be made to Gilchrist Hospice Care, 11311 McCormick Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
