Kersey Alexander Jones, Jr.
May 08, 1940 - August 22, 2022
Obituary
Kersey A. Jones, Jr. entered this earthly realm on May 8, 1940, and returned home to his Heavenly Father on August 22, 2022. He was a kind and gentle person. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will leave to grieve his departure, Joan, his wife of 59 years, two daughters, Tina Marie Jones Davis (Larry – deceased), and Dawn Lee Metz (Eric). There are four grandchildren: Micah Isaiah Jones-Davis, Lauren Alexis Davis Payano (Victor), Devin Michael Metz (Coral) and Alec Jae Metz (Wynter). Kersey was also the proud great- grandfather of Liam M. Metz, Leilani Marie Payano and Hadley Rae Metz.
Kersey was preceded in death by his father, Kersey A. Jones, Sr., his mother Rosa Lee (Knight) Jones and three sisters: Joyce Jones Stewart (Charles – deceased), Carolyn Jones Hall (William – deceased) and Flora Jones Snowden (Reginald – deceased).
In addition to the above-mentioned individuals, Kersey leaves a pain in the heart of many other individuals to include nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and close acquaintances. No one was a stranger to Kersey.
Kersey enjoyed being of service to others as demonstrated by the committed volunteer work he engaged in as a member of the Aberdeen Lions Club and the support he gave to his wife, Joan, in her volunteer activities. He was also a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Kersey was not one to say “no” if there was a need to be fulfilled. Kersey was a baptized member of the Aberdeen Church of Christ and volunteered for many church- related service projects.
The family will receive friends at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home at 333 Parke Street, Aberdeen, Maryland on Friday, August 26th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and at the Aberdeen Church of Christ on Saturday, August 27th form 9:00 – 10:00 am, with funeral services immediately following at 10:00 am. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 3839 Aldino Road, Aberdeen, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family request Kersey be remembered with a memorial contribution to the American Heart Association at P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
We the family of Kersey A. Jones, Jr. thank everyone for the many prayers that have been offered up to God on his and our behalf since he had his stroke on January 13, 2022. In lieu of flowers, we suggest that any remembrance of him be in the form of a donation to the American Heart Association at P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
We the family have decided to abide by Kersey’s final wishes. He did not want to be remembered with a lavish funeral or meal following his interment. In keeping with his request and the current environmental situations regarding public safety health issues, there will be no repass following his interment at Harford Memorial Gardens. It is the desired of the family members that each of you will celebrate his life as a “child of God” in your own individual and special ways.
Kersey would say “I entered this world as a child of God. I lived my life with the desire that others would see the presence of God in me and, in turn, accept Him as their personal savior. I now leave this earthly world still a child of God looking forward with great anticipation to spending my eternal life with Him.”

Kersey was a great guy, soft-spoken and always had a smile for you. His Physical Test Division was one of my very favorite places at ATC to just hang-out; all of the guys, Dr. Faller, Terry Marrs, Tony Ham, Chuck, all of them were just great and never minded showing you what they were working on. Kersey knew that, me being from IT, well I didn't really have a lot of reason to be hanging around his lab but he never discouraged me from visiting his crew. Great guy, sincere condolences to the family. Chris Rodgers, ATC Alumni (retired)
