John Patrick Kelly

Obituary

John Patrick Kelly of Edgewood, MD passed away on Wednesday, December 7. Born in Baltimore, MD on February 15, 1948, he was the son of the late Michael and Sarah (Kaehler) Kelly and loving husband of the late Wanda Fay (Harrell) Kelly.

Staff Sergeant Kelly retired in 1990 with over 20 years of proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. He was also a self-employed painter.

Our father was a man of integrity who was fiercely loyal and held exceptionally strong family values. He had a strong work ethic throughout his life. Dad clearly showed his love for all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We will always remember his uncanny ability to recall jokes to keep things light and his jokester personality. If someone was surprised at Aunt Mary’s annual 4th of July cookout, it was because Dad was putting fireworks under their chair! Everyone he interacted with seemed to leave with a smile. He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his children, Heather Kelly of Abingdon, MD; Holly Seymour (Terry) of Edgewood, MD; and John Kelly (Kathleen) of Holden, MA; grandchildren, Joshua, Gabriel, Ethan, Zachary, Ryan, John, Brendan, Tess, and Julianne; great grandchildren, Phoenix, Winter and Joshua and his siblings, Charles Kelly (Cleo), Joseph Kelly (Judy), and Kathleen (Kelly) Simpson (William).

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 12 from 6-8pm at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 13 at 10:00am at Parkwood Cemetery.
