Sorry for your great loss. Laurie was a fantastic, friendly, independent person. She loved to do things on her own. Her sense of humor would carry you through the day with a smile on your face. I remember her volunteering at the Harford County Public Library, always giving no matter how tired she was. She will be remembered in my heart. May God watch over your family in this time of loss. Sincerely, Cathy Class of 71

Dear Scanlands, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I was visiting dad on Tuesday and as I passed by your street, I asked dad if he ever heard anything about Laurie. I often think of her and wondered how she was doing. The last time I saw her was in the nursing home in Havre de Grace several years ago. I talked to her and even though she couldn't answer, we communicated somewhat and I was convinced she knew me. We spent many fun times together starting in grade school when Laurie, Cindy Gross and I would all get together with our Barbie dolls. Later,we spent every morning together along with Mr. Avenpodo and the orchestra (an experience to remember) and later on the tennis team. I also remember the time we unjustly got in trouble and had to clean the entire gym hall of lockers!(Mrs Scanlon should remember marching to the office with mom) Laurie was a wonderful person and friend that I'll remember fondly. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all. Valerie Shukis Mainardi

It has been my pleasure to know Laurie all or most of her years at Citizens. Although she found it difficult to respond, I believe that she enjoyed the music that I played for her in some way. I tried to pick songs that I thought she might have enjoyed in her younger years. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of her life at Citizens. Sincerely, David, the Music Man, Citizens Care Center

My sincere condolances to the family of Laurie. I recently became aware of her passing through the email that was sent to her many high school classmates, although I was aware that she had contracted MS several years ago. Please know that she will be remembered in prayer, and the way she lived her life was certainly a testament to her indominable spirit. With deepest sympathy, Bill Caddick Class of '71
