Thomas William Jones, Jr. passed away at his home in Aberdeen on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. He was 88.
Born in Havre de Grace, MD he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (McKinney) Jones and husband of the late Joan (Seiler) Jones who he was married to for 65 years.
A retired Program Budget Coordinator for Army Research Laboratory on APG, he was a member of the Navy Reserve as well as the Army National Guard. Bill was a 1954 graduate of Aberdeen High School and married his high school sweetheart, Joan, in 1955. Bill enjoyed the outdoors but especially hunting, crabbing, and fishing. For much of his life he was a commercial fisherman and could be found on the waters of the Chesapeake. In his later years you could often find him at the Havre de Grace yacht basin watching the boats come in and out. In addition, he also loved to garden and had a soft spot for all his wife’s cats. Above all Bill was the backbone of his family and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Jones, III and his wife Wendy of Aberdeen, Nancy Dilworth and her husband Michael of Port Charlotte, FL, and David Jones and his wife Donna of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Chelsea Woryk and husband Brendan, Connor Jones and wife Diana, Elizabeth Beach, Rachael Beach and her partner, Gary and Kristin Baker and husband Travis; great grandchildren, Delilah, Violet and Victoria as well as his siblings Michael Jones of AZ and Patricia Whalen of MA. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother Richard Jones.
A visitation will be held from 10am-11am on Thursday, November 9 at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home where a funeral service will begin at 11:00am. Interment will be in Spesutia Cemetery.
