Geraldine Berthney

Geraldine "Gerry" Berthney of Aberdeen died Nov. 26 at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace. She was 86. Mrs. Berthney was born at Washington Courthouse, Ohio, a daughter of the late Benjamin A. and Carrie Thompson Machan. She was a homemaker , avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She is survived by a son, Jeff Berthney and wife, Maryann, of Perry Hall; daughters Pat Gilley and husband, Gerald of New Castle, Del., Nancy Eggleston and husband, Bill, of Birdsboro, Pa.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; half sister Kathryn Howd Machan, of Ithaca, NY. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, William Peter Berthney; granddaughter Theresa Gripp; sister, Bobby Lou Thompson; ; and half brother Roger Machan. A celebration of life will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 29 at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
