Verna L Ryan

Verna Lindsay Ryan of Havre de Grace died July 20 at Oak Crest Village Retirement Center in Parkville. She was 90. Mrs. Ryan was born May 19, 1918 in Havre de Grace, a daughter of the late Lester R. and Pearl Lay Lindsay. Mrs. Ryan worked as a secretary at Aberdeen Proving Ground for several years. She was an Oak Crest Village resident for 10 years and was an active member of Havre de Grace United Methodist Church for 50 years. Mrs. Ryan is survived by a son, Bill Ryan, and his wife, Kathleen, of Bethesda; a daughter, Pat Smith, and her husband, Everette, of Jarrettsville; her grandchildren, Kelsey, Brendan and Madison Ryan, all of Bethesda, Earl Smith and his wife, Cheryl, of Katy, Texas, and Eric Smith, and his wife, Denisa, of Columbia; and a great-grandchild, Kristian Kai Smith, of Columbia. Mrs. Ryan was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Arthur Monroe Ryan, and her sister, Dorothy Perry. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. July 24 in the chapel at Oak Crest Retirement Center at 8800 Walther Blvd. in Parville, with the Rev. Sarah Lee officiating.
