Esther Madeline Coen

Esther Madeline Coen of Havre de Grace, died February 8 at Harford Memorial Hospital. She was 91. Born in Darlington, MD she was the daughter of the late Richard and Irene (White) Stephens and the wife of the late Ralph S. Coen, Sr. Mr. Coen was employed at Dell's Pharmacy and was a homemaker and a nature lover who enjoyed traveling and camping. She loved crocheting, raising plants, especially violets. She loved current events and watching the county and city council meetings on TV. Mrs. Coen was a member of both Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist and Rock Run United Methodist Church. Mrs. Coen is survived by her son Ralph S. Coen, Jr. of Havre de Grace and her daughter Elizabeth "Betty" Hawkins of Havre de Grace; a sister Irene Hudson of Danville, VA; a brother Malcolm Stephens; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Charles E. Coen a daughter Rita A. Deaner, and her brother Richard Stephens. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11 from 6-8pm at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral service conducted by Rev. John Dailey will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 10:00am at Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church, 409 N. Paradise Rd., Aberdeen, MD. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbeareres will be Coale Hawkins, Mark Hawkins, Daniel Hawkins, Craig Coen, Mike Deaner, and Rick Deaner.
