Daddy kept us laughing with long shaggy dog stories and quick one liners. As a man of integrity and honor, he made a positive difference in my life and the lives of many others with whom he came in contact. He gave me a life-long love of learning and the world of ideas. From him I learned to appreciate the beauty of well-crafted words. He taught me to think critically and to ask questions. He inspired me by naming his heros - Ghandi and Thomas Jefferson. He taught me to be kind to animals. I loved and admired him. I miss him now and will always love him.

There are many things about my father that were important to me, his eldest daughter. He was a playful and caring father to me as a small child. He had a great sense of humor, a love for knowledge and good workmanship. He liked to read, to teach and to garden, things that he passed on to me, too. He was a man with a strong social concience. At he end of 85 years he was still conciuos and in control of his life. He made his own decisions and did what he said he would do. We will remember my father as a man who lived a long life with humor, integrity and honor. He was a loving, loyal and faithful husband to my Mom for over 60 years, a caring father and family member and a good friend to many. I love him and I will miss talking to him, but I feel that on some level he is still with me.
