October 13, 1943 - July 14, 2009
Obituary
Howard Hammen Jr, "Jose", age 65 of Havre de Grace, MD passed away on July 14, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Howard was born in Scranton, PA on Oct 13, 1943 to the late Howard Hammen Sr. and Edna Jurkovitz Hammen. Howard is predeceased by his brother Jacob Hammen. Howard served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963. Howard worked for Hooker Chemical Company and FMC Corp. for 41 years. He retired from FMC in May of 2008. Howard was a member of the Aberdeen Lions Club and the Havre de Grace American Legion. Howard enjoyed attending Antique Car Shows and enjoyed driving and entering his 1965 Buick Skylark Convertible into shows in the area. Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Carol Hammen of Havre de Grace, loving daughter Robyn and close son-in-law Kevin Lynch. Howard had two beautiful granddaughters, Hannah and Kara who loved their "Pops" and will miss him dearly. Also survived by sister, Joan Welby, Scranton, PA. He was a favorite uncle of numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Howard had a special bond with all his brother, sister in-laws and nephew Randy Giddens of Charlotte, N.C. and they will miss his sense of humor, his crazy jokes and especially the Halloween parties where Howard always served as the master of costumes. He must have had 50 unique costumes that he would allow anyone to use if they didn't have one. Cause you had to wear one on Howard's favorite holiday. "Jose" never met a stranger, he had the gift of gab and could talk about any subject under the sun and he will be missed by all.
Howard attended Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church where he had many friends who kept him in thought and prayer not to mention plenty of sweet treats. The family will receive friends and family at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, P.A. 333 S. Parke St. Aberdeen, Friday July 17th from 6 9 pm.
