Obituary

William F. Cornell of Aberdeen, MD passed away on November 12, 2009 at Harford Memorial Hospital. He was 74. William was raised in Watauga County, North Carolina. As a young man, he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He also worked for the former Bata Shoe Company and for Fork Paint and Body. Mr. Cornell enjoyed bluegrass and country music and loved playing cards with family and friends. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren as they seemed to make him laugh. It was often said that he never knew a stranger and no matter where he was, he knew someone or someone knew him. He always had a smile and a story to tell. He would often say "tell me a funny story". His passion was body and fender work and most often he could be found in his garage working on cars and trucks for family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Thompson Cornell, his daughters, Louise Oldland and her husband Leonard; Bonnie Stafford and her husband Ron and Billie Jo Cornell (Taylor). His cherished grandchildren; Daniel Oldland, Stefan & Samantha Stafford, and Christopher, Malissa, & Trisha Taylor. He was loved by many nephews, nieces, and extended family. In addition to his late parents, Howard & Bonnie (Isaacs) Cornell, he was predeceased by his brother, Joe L. Cornell, all of North Carolina. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 16 at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. I met Bill and the family back in 1985 when I first met Lucille when I first got stationed here in Aberdeen at the Proving Grounds as an instructor with the 16th ord. Bill,Pat and family would come to the house and loved to play cards. He loved to be with family and friends, and enjoyed just being himself. These are the memories I will cherish of Bill. He always had that "Funny Story". I am going to miss him! He was my friend. Go In peace Bill. Please accept my deepest thoughts and prayers to the family during your time of sorrow. Your friend, and adopted family member. Chuck

Louise and Family: I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I went to school with you, and lived on Rt. 7, just a stones throw from you. I will keep all of you in my prayers.
