JoAnne Oliver

December 05, 1942 - May 12, 2024

Obituary

JoAnne Oliver passed away peacefully at home May 12, 2024 with her adoring husband, Charles (Charlie) Oliver by her side. JoAnne and Charlie were married 54 years; often and proudly calling one another “The Love of my life”.

She was born 1942 in Aberdeen, MD to Isabel and Walter Stoyer. JoAnne was the loving mother to John M. Oliver (Cynthia) and grandmother to Mitchell and Miles.

JoAnne found joy in boating the Chesapeake and curating her extensive flower gardens. She was a proud member of the Harford County, MD P.E.O. Chapter and the Evergreen Garden Club.

Her gentle spirit and trusting nature were cornerstones of her many dear friendships. She had an unyielding love for her God, Country and her Charlie. Always looking for the best in people, she believed “The past has passed and what matters is where you are now”.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to look for the good in people, keep looking forward and remember “The past has passed and what matters is where you are now.”

As I/we try to digest the loss of someone dear to our hearts, I/we reminisce about the many years of sharing wonderful memories that will stay near and dear to our hearts forever! JoAnne was a woman who had a great deal of self-respect and respected others. She always carried herself with dignity, grace, and poise. When she walked into a room, her elegance was immediately recognized and it mirrored her character. It's not to say life was always easy for her, it was that she had enough self-awareness and understanding to know what was/wasn't important to get upset over. It's no surprise that because of her elegance and grace, Charlie was immediately attracted to her. Unless one was ill, we never witnessed one without the other, finishing the other sentence, and JoAnne’s elegance in putting Charlie in his place which would have us laughing till our stomachs hurt! The two of them took care of and loved each other throughout their 50+ years of marriage until JoAnne took her last breath. Charlie's love and adoration for his JoAnne was first and foremost one of his biggest accomplishments. Joanne regularly talked about their son, John, daughter-in-law Cindy, and grandchildren Myles & Mitchell. Whether it was about their work, school, church, or vacations, she was ever so proud of them all. God blessed us by bringing our hearts and lives together. We will miss JoAnne forever. Until we meet again our beautiful angel, we will keep your memory alive in our hearts and with others. Lisa & John Dillon

Aunt Joanne was a wonderful woman - so kind and loving. Although we didn’t get to spend much time with her she was always so generous with the time we had together. She gifted a painting of hers to my husband and I on our wedding day that has hung in our home since - we treasure it! I hope Uncle Charlie can find solace in the great love they shared and the love she left on everyone who knew her. ❤️Emily Stone
