Dear Fay & family, We were heartbroken to hear this sad news. Jan loved you and his family more than anything. He was a wonderful, generous, loving person and a great friend. We will truly miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this hard time. I only knew Jan for a short while, but what I did know was he was a kind and giving man.

Every day a dog named Rip #0B42 stands on Sentry Duty at Heavens Gate, waiting for his Handler to arrive. Yesterday Rip heard a familiar sound, a long past smell. He looked hard and seen Jan coming up to meet him at Heavens Gate. Peace at long last to both of them. Jan, you are my friend and I will miss you, but I know, you are with Rip and in a better place. Semper Fi ol friend.

I knew Jan for a brief time, but since the first day I met him, he treated me as he treated everyone else: a longtime coworker, colleague, and friend. He was kind, patient, understanding, and a good mentor. Gerta has said that its a shame you left us, because she has not gotten the chance to get to know you better. To Fay and famliy: our heartfelt condolences and we hope that the family does not grieve for long, but well. Jan is in a better place. RIP.
