Thomas S. Scanland

Thomas S. Scanland, age 91 of Aberdeen died June 1, 2010 at home. Beloved husband of Betty (Colleran) Scanland for over 62 years. Born in Alabama to the late Granville and Lillian (Duke) Scanland. Cherished father of Betsy Arbogast and husband David of Purcellville, VA, Dr. John Scanland and wife Sue of Clarks Summit, PA, Thomas Scanland, Jr. and wife Catherine of Bend, OR, Susan Ruddick and husband Mark of River Downs, MD and the late Laurie Scanland. Dear grandfather of Craig Scanland, Brendan Scanland, Austin Ruddick, Jack Scanland and Taylor Scanland. Mr. Scanland served in the US Army in active (WWII), and reserve duty retiring as a Lt. Col. He was awarded a Bachelors in engineering degree from U. of Oklahoma and a Masters in engineering degree from Johns Hopkins U. Mr. Scanland was a mechanical engineer at APG for over 30 years before retiring. A funeral service will be celebrated Saturday, June 5 at 11am at Baker Cemetery in Aberdeen.
