Robert "Bob" William Kiely

Robert “Bob” William Kiely Jr. of Aberdeen passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Senator Bob Hooper House, with family by his side. He was 80.

Born in Marblehead, MA, he was the son of the late Robert W. Kiely Sr. and Honora (Cadigan) Kiely. Bob attended St. John’s Prep in Danvers, MA and in June of 1968, he graduated from Salem State College in MA. Bob obtained his Master of Business Administration at Florida Institute of Technology in June, 1987.

Lieutenant Colonel Bob Kiely (retired) proudly served his country for over 28 years in the U.S. Army. Among the medals received included: Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. He was a long-term member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline “Sam” (LaBrie) Kiely; children, Michael Kiely, wife Jean (Chalifoux) and daughter, Olivia Kiely of Lake Elmo, MN; Matthew Kiely, wife Ellen (Kerr) and son, Austin Robert Kiely of Clarksburg, MD; Jennifer Field and husband, Mark of Aberdeen; and their children, Natalie Field, Abigail Field and Jaxon Field, as well as his sisters, Nancy Viselli of Salem, MA and Kathy Kiely of Beverly, MA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Rosemary Donovan, Elizabeth Petkewich and Noreen Newhall.

Bob was a lifelong Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots fan. He loved spending time with his family and adored his 5 grandkids. He enjoyed riding his John Deere and took great pride in taking care of his home and his impeccable lawn. He will be missed dearly.

A private Catholic mass will be held in his honor at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. A future public interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in the spring.
