Obituary

James (Jim) K. Lindsey, 75, of Aberdeen, Maryland, entered into eternal rest on August 27, 2026. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, local business leader, historian, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed.

Jim was born in Indiana to William and Eva Lindsey and moved to Aberdeen, Maryland, with his family as a young boy in the late 1950s. A graduate of Aberdeen High School, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Baltimore. He served as the general manager of a local hotel for many years.

Following in line with his work providing service to others in the hospitality industry, Jim spent countless hours volunteering and giving back to his community. Throughout his adult life, he supported the missions of the Harford County Chamber of Commerce and the Aberdeen Rotary Club. He was recognized for his contributions during Tourism Week by the County Executive and was also a recipient of the Harford’s Most Beautiful People Award.

In addition to his servant heart and the joy he found in helping others, Jim had a passion for history and genealogy. He enjoyed sharing the information he uncovered about his ancestors and family tree. He also volunteered at the Aberdeen Historical Museum, where he created displays and welcomed visitors to explore Aberdeen’s history. A favorite vacation destination for Jim was Williamsburg, Virginia, and he also treasured trips to Indiana for family reunions.

Jim had a generous and giving heart and never wanted others to do without. He made people feel seen and valued, which was evident in his later years when he volunteered his time making daily wellness phone calls to older adults and discharged patients after he was no longer able to volunteer in person.

Jim is survived by his two sisters, Diana Krams and her husband, Gregory, as well as Judith Bennett. He is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephews: Lindsey Gilmour, Joseph Malloy, Charles Bennett, and Whitney Hill. His legacy lives on through his six great-nephews and two great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Lindsey, and his parents, William and Eva Lindsey.

All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Aberdeen Historical Museum would be appreciated by the family.
