Mildred V. Murphy

Mildred Viola Murphy, daughter of the late Allen E. Murphy and Ida K. Murphy, was born on May 9, 1921 in Bel Air, MD. She departed this life on Friday, August 10, 2012. Mildred was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen, MD. She attended and graduated from Harford County Public Schools, at Bush School, Aberdeen, MD. Mildred began working for Aberdeen Cleaners as a presser, where she retired, after 30 years of service. She later gave her life to Christ and joined Mt. Calvary U.A.M.E. Church, where she attended Sunday school as a child. Mildred served on the Usher Board and Trustee Board for many years. She was well known by many in her neighborhood, young and old; as she sat on the front porch of her house at the corner of Baltimore Street and Second Street, watching and often talking to everyone that passed by. She will be greatly missed by all her neighbors. Mildred leaves to cherish her memory; 2 sisters Ms. Nancy Bowser of Aberdeen, MD and Ms. Mary Carter of Clovis, NM, one aunt Ms. Corrina Kennard of Bel Air, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother Melvin, and five other brothers and four sisters. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 18 from 11-12pm at Mt. Calvary U.A.M.E. Church where funeral services conducted by Rev. Alberta Clark will begin at 12:00. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
