Obituary

Marijane Weeks, nee Hackett, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Dacota Assisted Living in Aberdeen on February 9, 2025. She was 93 years old.

The daughter of William and Jane Hackett, and sister to William (Bill) Hackett, she was born August 9, 1931 in New York City. She met “her sailor”, Charles D. Weeks (Dan), at the USO when he asked her to dance. It would be the start of a lifelong love of dancing with each other. They were married 56 years before Dan’s passing in 2009.

She and Dan would go to weekly dances at the Naylor Wine Cellars, making many friends through the years. She also loved watching baseball games, supporting Ted Williams and the Boston Red Sox growing up, before becoming a huge Orioles fan when she and her family moved to Aberdeen in the mid-60s. She spent several years working alongside her husband at H&R Block in Aberdeen. She was also a longtime volunteer in the Surgery Center at Harford Memorial Hospital and with the Historical Society of Harford County. At home, Marijane enjoyed bird watching, reading mysteries and historical fiction, solving crossword puzzles, attending plays and the opera, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, brother, husband, son Tom, and daughter-in-law Linda. She is survived by her beloved sons, Dan, David (Sandy), and Peter (Laura); her grandchildren Sarah (Greg), Joshua (Katie), John, Jacob (Alison), Molly (Boothe), Samantha (Kyle), and Amanda (Ross); 9 great-grandchildren; and nieces, Patty, Pamela and Peggy.
