John A. Rakaczky

Peacefully surrounded by his family, John Anthony Rakaczky of Aberdeen, died on December 20, 2013. John was born in Pleasant Unity, PA in 1936, the son of John and Anna Rakaczky and was pre-deceased in death by Pamela Rakaczky, his daughter; JoAnn Reagan, his sister; and Ernest Rakaczky, his brother. He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Nancy J. Rakaczky (Olexsovich); cherished father of Aimee Lozinak (husband David) and John N. Rakaczky. He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Katie and Will Lozinak and Sydnee, Nicholas, and Jacob Rakaczky. John graduated from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA with a degree in chemistry. He served in the United States Army and worked 40 years as a scientist at BRL, AMSA, and Edgewood Arsenal. Upon retirement, he travelled abroad with his wife, Nancy, and friends. He loved to play golf, but his lifetime passion was baseball. He also had an insatiable interest in history, collecting and reading history books his entire life. A Catholic mass of burial will be held on Friday, December 27th at 11:00 at St. Joan of Arc Church, 222 S. Law Street, Aberdeen, MD 21001.
