Obituary
Teresa L. Boyer
November 17, 1930 – May 8, 2014
Teresa Lois Troup Boyer was born on November 17, 1930 and passed away on May 8, 2014. Teresa was the daughter of Calvin Edward Troup and Cora Valeria Klinger Troup Dunkleburger (both deceased) of Hegins, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her daughter, Tina, of Montclair, New Jersey; her son Kean, of Florida, and Kean's son, Second Lieutenant Aaron Boyer of the US Army and her daughter-in-law Nicole; her daughter Cynthia Amirault and son-in-law Paul Amirault and their children, Ryan and Kelsey of Kingsville, Maryland and Kerrie and Michael Moyseenko of Baltimore, Maryland; daughter, Sheila Harrelle, and son-in-law, Preston Harrelle, and their children, Faith and Brett, of Herndon, Virginia; and son Nathan and Nathan's son, Daniel, of Havre de Grace, Maryland; her sister Renee Milota and brother-in-law, Richard Milota of Mount Dora, Florida; while her brothers, Warren, Jay and Delbert are deceased, she is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Teresa's formative years were spent in the rural community of Hegins Township in the coal regions of central Pennsylvania. Teresa was a member of the 1948 graduating class of Hegins Township High School. Teresa told many stories of life before her marriage. She fondly spoke of days on the farm, serving ice cream at Kimmel's dairy in Valley View, PA, waiting tables in Atlantic City, NJ, teaching piano lessons and working for the telephone company in Harrisburg, PA. After raising five children and finding herself in the middle of a divorce, Teresa fulfilled a lifelong dream when she became a 1978 graduate of Towson University. She went on to continue her formal education at The Johns Hopkins University.
Teresa became a dedicated counselor and teacher. Many recognitions and awards for her commitment to the Harford County community highlighted Teresa's career. She counseled women facing divorce, helped others obtain meaningful employment skills and assisted with their return to the work force. She was instrumental in establishing summer camp programs for children with disabilities. She obtained resources for folks in need of fuel and kept the county food pantry well stocked. After a short retirement, Teresa returned to her passion of helping others and became the dynamic and remarkable director of the Aberdeen Senior Center. She organized and participated in many activities to support her local community and others after retirement. She regularly offered Sunday coffee or brunch in her home to her friends and neighbors.
Teresa's leisure activities were varied and pursued with passion. She was fondly called Dr. Mom for her extensive knowledge of health and wellness. She loved reading, sewing, music, swimming, and gardening. She enjoyed her flowers and cherry trees in full bloom. She was an active traveler and visited many places with family and friends. Her extensive travels included England, Italy, Germany, St. Petersburg, Costa Rica, Ireland, Iceland, New Mexico and a hot air balloon ride over the Sedona mountains in Arizona. She was proud of the achievements, successes and independence of her children. She enjoyed many activities with her grandchildren.
A family visitation is scheduled for May 17, 2014 at 5:00 at Tarring Cargo Funeral Home at 333 S Parke Street in Aberdeen, Maryland, followed by a 6:00 memorial service.
In tribute to Teresa's dedication to her commitment to helping others, the family is asking for donations to be made to local community charities that support the needs of others. Teresa's favorite charities were the local police officers, local firefighters, Father Flannigan's Boys Home of Missouri, and the Native Americans of South Dakota.

Teresa in my mind will be remembered each time I pass her home with the beautiful Cherry trees in the front. We often talked of having a tea social when they were in bloom, that however never came to pass because of her failing health.. But God chose to take her home when they were in full bloom, RIP Teresa you will be surely missed by your neighbors of Sherwood Lane.. Prayers for your children !!
