Obituary
Victoria McAllister was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the third of five daughters, to Louis Glasser and Mary (McGee) Glasser. She attended St. Malachy's School in Belfast and in 1940 joined the Women's Royal Air Force, a division of the British Royal Air Force, and served four years of wartime duty in the Bomber Command Division.
She met her husband, Francis A. McAllister, in 1942 at a Red Cross dance in Bournemouth England where Francis was in the United States Army 29th Infantry Division training in England in preparation for the invasion of Normandy.
Francis and Vicki were married on July 24, 1943 in the Oratory of the Sacred Heart Church in Bournemouth, England. After the war, they settled in Aberdeen, Maryland where Vicki worked as a Medical Secretary for Kirk Army Hospital. Later she opened the "Sweet Shoppe" bakery. They raised their two daughters and three sons in Aberdeen, all attending St. Joan of Arc School.
Vicki was a devoted member of St. Joan of Arc Parish since 1945 and she loved the Lord. Vicki was a champion both for the young and the elderly. She served as a longtime Catechist with both the Catholic Chapel at Aberdeen Proving Grounds and with St. Joan of Arc Church. She volunteered as a counselor for at risk youth, volunteered with Harford Hospice for well over a decade, and volunteered with Harford County Senior Center Acting Troupe. Vicki was infamous for her inimitable Irish sense of humor, her candor, her encouragement and her joy.
She is survived by her husband, Francis, her daughters, Faye McAllister, Diane Henderson (David), her sons, Patrick (Patricia), Michael (Janelle) and Joseph (Lindsey), her four grandchildren, Josh McAllister, Ciara McAllister, Meghan McAllister and Connor McAllister, and her four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Friday, April 10th at 11am where a visitation will be held from 10-11am. Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens. At 6:00pm there will be a Memorial Service at Brightview, Bel Air, 300 West Ring Factory Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Eastern Harford County FISH (Friends in Self Help), 1907 Chapel Road, Havre de Grace, Maryland 21078. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.tarringcargo.com.

My Aunt Vicki was truly one of the most influential people in my life. From when I was just a small child she showed me love and belief in myself more than almost anyone else. From her I learned courage, honesty and the enormous power of keeping your sense of humor no matter what! She and these qualities will be in my heart forever. In many ways I am the man I am today because of her.

Diane and family- An Irish prayer for all of you....and our deepest sympathies for your loss. I pray that you will have the blessing of being consoled May you know in your soul that there is no need to be afraid. When your time comes, may you be given every blessing and shelter that you need. May there be a beautiful welcome for you in the home that you are going to. You are not going somewhere strange. You are going back to the home that you never left. May you have a wonderful urgency to live your life to the full. May you live compassionately and creatively and transfigure everything that is negative within you and about you. When you come to die may it be after a long life. May you be peaceful and happy and in the presence of those who really care for you. May your going be sheltered and your welcome assured. May your soul smile in the embrace of your anam cara (soul friend).
