I am writing this with a heart that is heavy with grief, but also full of gratitude—gratitude for the beautiful life of my Aunt Karen.
Aunt Karen wasn’t just my dad’s only sister—she was a true blessing in our lives. She was grace personified. With a heart of gold, a soul so gentle, and a presence so warm, she became a safe space for anyone who was lucky enough to know her. Her kindness didn’t just touch people—it wrapped around them like a comforting blanket. Whether it was a time of celebration or a moment of sorrow, Aunt Karen was there. Always. Without hesitation. Without question.
She had this way about her—her soft, loving voice, her calm presence, and her effortless sense of humor. She knew how to make you laugh, how to make you feel heard, and how to remind you that everything would somehow be okay. Her joy was contagious, her patience unmatched, and her love, unconditional.
She was an incredible wife, a devoted mother, a wonderful sister and daughter, an amazing aunt, and a loyal friend. She gave so much of herself—to people, to animals, to the world. And in doing so, she made everyone feel like they mattered. If you didn’t get the chance to know her… I truly believe you missed out on one of life’s most precious gifts.
Aunt Karen, you were a light in our lives, and now you are a star in the heavens. God called you home last week, and while we are heartbroken to let you go, we know you’re now reunited with your parents… and my dad. I hope you two are sharing stories, laughing, and watching over us with love.
Please give him the biggest hug for me.
Until we meet again, Aunt Karen… I will carry your love in my heart every single day. Thank you for being you. I will miss you more than words can ever say.
