Obituary for Edmond LaRue Jacobs

Edmond LaRue Jacobs formerly of Aberdeen died Saturday, August 5 at Salisbury Genesis Eldercare. He was 94.

Born in Aberdeen he was the son of the late Oscar R. & Lillian (Gallup) Jacobs. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1939 and attended Tome School. He was very active in sports at both locations.

An Army veteran of WWII he served in the Philippines and Japan. After World War II he joined the Susquehanna Baseball League and played on the Aberdeen Canners baseball team. Later in life he picked up a tennis racket and played into his 80s.

A longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church, Mr. Jacobs had been a bookkeeper for various Chevy dealers in the Aberdeen/Havre de Grace area

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Howlett) Jacobs; children William Jacobs and wife Tobie of Ocean City, MD and Patricia Adams and husband John of Cornwall, NY; brother, Charles Jacobs and wife Virginia of Havre de Grace; grandchildren, Scott Jacobs of CA, Mark Adams of FL and Michelle Adams of NY; and his great grandchildren, Haylynn, Janissa, Roman and James.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9 from 6-8pm at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home. A graveside service conducted by Dr. Robert Clipp will held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 10 at Harford Memorial Gardens.
